The defendant admitted 17 charges at the courthouse on the end of the week

A person who laced sweets with sleeping medication and provided them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two boys aged nine and ten years old.

The accused was detained after eight youngsters and one adult fell ill at the facility in mid-summer.

The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.

Yet, he disputed one particular crime he was accused of, which was against a young boy.

The accused was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on late November.

'Treat game'

The legal representative, handling the case, outlined the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.

She said his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer camp which he managed.

The defendant played a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel said, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to eat sweets "as fast as possible".

She informed the proceedings Ruben had engaged in this activity with the young males "for many years", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the following morning.

She said the defendant had been capable of justifying this for many years as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had worries in recently.

Mrs Prior KC stated further: "Recently" his family member had worries about the situation, justifiably.

"They decided to examine in the defendant's belongings."

The prosecutor said items including infant oil, Vaseline and syringes were found, and his stepson notified the law enforcement about his concerns.

She explained the man went on to engage in the "treat game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that time," she added.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was reviewing the police response of the situation.

Mrs Prior stated the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so the family member called the police once more.

She said the man then conducted the "candy game" in a space of five children.
